More about me…

I recently moved from Texas to Mountain Home, Arkansas. I still make trips down to Texas for large mural projects but I am looking forward to creating murals in the northern Arkansas area.

My first murals…

During my Senior year of high school, my art teacher asked if I would be interested in painting a few murals for some local business.  I said “SURE!” as I was working at Kroger as a “utility clerk”, painting seemed like a better way to make money. She arranged for me to paint murals for a local sports store and a physical rehab gym. That was the first time I had been paid for my art talents. (Thank you Mrs. Barr!)

Soon after my first paying murals, the staff of my high school also found out about my art abilities. They started using me for free labor to paint murals throughout the school.  I was at least able to negotiate that I painted during Calculus giving me an excused absence from my most dreaded class. This art thing was really beginning to pay off.

Other areas…

Since my high school days, I have used my art talent in several other areas.  I airbrushed t-shirts in the 90’s on Daytona Beach, Myrtle Beach and South Padre Island.  I graduated from the Art Institute of Dallas with a degree in Computer Animation in 2001 and worked with a Dallas Animation Studio, Janimation, on several CGI projects, Spy Kids 2 and Spy Kids 3 were the two largest profile of them. I have also enjoyed doing some occasional graphic design projects over the years. I have included examples of some of this work in the artwork portfolio.

Murals projects…

After 32 years, murals are still my preferred way of making a living as an artist. I enjoy the diversity of each mural project. They each have their unique styles and that keeps things fresh and gives me a challenge. Over the years I have transitioned from residential to mostly commercial murals, but I still enjoy painting both. I have included a sample of a few residential and commercial murals I have painted over the years in my mural portfolio.

Thank you for checking out my website! Please contact me if you have a project you’d like to work on together.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)…

SEO requires each page of your website to contain at least 300 words.  I don’t see why my website… Murals by Dwayne Windell (they require that to be said a lot too) should contain this much text, it’s about the portfolio pictures.  What happened to “A picture is worth a thousand words”?  Well, apparently not in the world of search engines.  I created this website to share my portfolio, I’m an artist, not an author, but search engines must not see a difference.  So, I’m cheating a little and have included this text on the bottom of every page just to meet their 300 word requirement.

SEO also likes redundant links, I’ve put a few of those in this silly section too.

Murals by Dwayne Windell …

After 32 years of utilizing my art talent to make a living in several different specialties, such as airbrushing, graphic design and computer animation, murals are still my favorite. I especially like the uniqueness of each mural project and the challenge of creating each mural in its own style. Over the years I have transitioned from residential to mostly commercial murals, but I still enjoy painting both.  Please contact me if you would like to work together on your project, Thank you!  And just for extra good SEO… Murals by Dwayne Windell, Murals by Dwayne Windell and Murals by Dwayne Windell.  🙂
